JDA Hotels, a family business owned and operated by the Feros family, is one of Sydney’s leading hospitality groups. Operating a wide variety of venues in Metropolitan Sydney and the Gold Coast, JDA stays true to the vibrant bar, food and pub culture that Australians love and are renowned for.
The family business is run by John Feros, Dean Feros and Alexandra Henderson (formerly Feros). The J.D.A. in JDA Hotels, who draw on the 40 year industry experience of their father Theodore (‘Theo’) Feros. Theo has achieved the much acclaimed status of being inducted to the NSW Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Hall of Fame and has a great reputation and is well known throughout the hospitality industry.
Acquiring his first hotel in 1969 in partnership with his brother Nick, Theo operated and developed many venues across wider Sydney throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s; playing a pioneering role within the hospitality industry.
His achievements throughout this period are significant in the history and maturity of the Sydney bar and pub scene including the most successful entertainment venue in the Western Suburbs involving nightclub operations and live bands, opening just the second Liquor Barn in Australia and was listed as Number 4 in Liquor Licences Paid. His venues have won numerous awards both state-wide and nationally. In 1997, Theo and his wife Rene stepped out of hotel operations and into a consulting role, allowing his children to continue the hospitality legacy he had established over the previous thirty years. Theo and Rene, to this day, are heavily involved in the group undertakings and continue to share their vast knowledge and understanding of the industry with those around them. They are both well-known and loved by the complete JDA family which now exceeds more than 360 employees.
Currently, JDA – led proudly by John, Dean and Alexandra – own and operate seven hotels in metropolitan Sydney, own and operate three hotels in Queensland at Mermaid Beach, Bundall and Varsity Lakes.
